Please find below a summary recently issued by maccybiochar:
maccybiochar is a not-for-profit volunteer group set up to convert tree litter from local households, landowners and businesses to biochar and thereby capture carbon, offset and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create voluntary carbon offsets to trade. Registered users have the greenhouse gases produced by their electricity consumption offset by the greenhouse gases captured by the Centre.
Biochar is a form of charcoal and is good for the soil, good as an animal feed supplement, has numerous industrial uses and combats climate change by sequestering carbon.
We currently provide the following services:
• Collection site(s) for organic woody waste near Macclesfield.
• Making biochar at your place.
• Rent-a-kiln for DIY.
• Wholesale supply of biochar.
• Voluntary biochar carbon offsets for registered households.
• Speakers for schools and clubs who wish to learn more.
• Advice to other volunteer groups wishing to set up their own biochar centres.
